Damian Lillard has proved all the doubters wrong all his life, on and off the hardwood. Portland Trailblazers All Star Point Guard finally has debuted his kicks on the hardwood. After the sought-after release of the adidas Harden Vol. 3, the adidas Dame 5 lost most of its anticipation. Originally surfacing over the Spring of 2018, the sneakers have certainly lost some hype and suspense, as the shoes are rumored to release in the Winter of 2019.
The adidas Dame 5 were seen on Dame’s feet just last night at his alma-mater, Oakland High, where he spent his four years of high school. After gifting the sneakers to students enrolled in their basketball agenda, official pictures of the sneakers surfaced on feet. Three colorways dubbed the ‘Suga Gee’, inspired by Dame’s mother, the infamous ‘Dame Time’ colorway, ‘CBC’, and ‘Mongoose’. Four colorways have finally surfaced with detailed shots.
No official tech specs have surfaced of the kicks quite yet, but we can pretty much tell what they’ll release with. The adidas Dame 5 appears to come equipped with a full-length, multi-directional herringbone outsole, with deep grooves for added durability and coverage, while sitting atop a full-length Bounce cushioned midsole.
In addition, all four colorways sport a dual-toned upper; meaning that there’s a more stiffer, usual synthetic material for the back paneling, while an engineered mesh covers the forefoot. The materials will vary upon each colorway, much like the adidas Dame 4. Expect new renditions with wovens, and textiles to release, as well as more raw materials like suede and leathers. All four colorways come with marbled outsoles, and unique colors that pays homage to friends, family, and commemorations into Damian Lillard’s life.
Expect the adidas Dame 5 to makes its public debut in February of 2019. While that sounds a while away, much like the Dame 3 and Dame 4, expect exclusive pre-orders and drops on the adidas App to come out before the initial release of the sneakers. An established release date hasn’t been identified quite yet, but expect these to release stateside in February, retailing at $115. Will you be copping the adidas Dame 5? Are they better than the 4? The ‘Suga Gee’ colorway pays homage to Dame’s Mom, coming dressed in all teal, while a marbled outsole arranged with all tones of blue finishes it off. Accents of white are hit all across the shoe, while perforations in the three stripes is evident for breathability. Final detailing includes a more ‘Cyan’ coated, semi-translucent banking-barrier for lateral support.
Not much speculation has been drawn on what ‘CBC’ means. But we do know is that this Dame 5 takes hues of bright college purple, and an almost infrared midsole to really finish off the shoe. More subtle gum/purple gradient outsole seems to be evident, but there are no official outsole pictures at the moment.
Inspired by Damian Lillard’s famous slogan on the court, #DAMETIME. Whether he hits the series winning buzzer beater in the playoffs against the Houston Rockets, or he’s leading the Portland Trailblazers to the NBA Playoffs, you know what time it is. This Dame 5 comes dressed in an almost ‘Chinese New Year’ look, with a white midsole, with black patterned accents. A simple white upper, black die-cut EVA sock-liner, and red/gray marbled outsole finish it off.
Inspired by the small yet, excellent hunter in the wild, the Dame 5 ‘Mongoose’ draws inspiration from the actual mongoose animal, while depicting Dame’s game on the court: small, fast, fierce, and intelligent. Hues of yellow, orange, black, and infrared are all evident, while a subtle yellow upper, semi-translucent orange banking-barrier, and marbled midsole/outsole finishes off the final colorway debuted on the hardwood.
