Donovan Mitchell has seriously become one of my favorite shooting guards in the NBA, from his rookie season when he balled out against the OKC Thunder to now facing the team that knocked them out last year, the Rockets. We’ve been covering bits and pieces of his upcoming signature shoe, but this time around there’s been a slight change to the adidas D.O.N. Issue #1 that people have pointed out.
This new pair that he’s rocking seems to have a different heel tab that is less pronounced than the predecessor version. It seems as if this new heel design could provide better containment, an issue that has plagued numerous past adidas hoops model. The shape of the heel looks to be more contoured around your heel and should provide better lockdown and eliminate heel slippage. As we approach the release of the shoe, this tweak has been made and will most likely be used on the production model.
