Carmelo Anthony has been a signiture athlete with Jordan Brand since first entering the NBA in 2003. Since its early popularity, the Melo signature line had begun to loose steam over the past few years, and this pushed the brand to go a different route and rather than add to Melos signature line, they began to release player exclusive Melo edition Jordans, such as the Jordan 1 Melo and even began to retro some of his own models like the Jordan Melo 1.5. These newer releases may have injected some life back into the Melo line for Jordan as sneakers such as the Air Jordan 1 “Melo” Equality, and The Air Jordan 9 “Melo” made to pay homage to his championship at Syracuse both sold out immediately on the SNKRS app.
Now fans of Jordan and the Melo line have a first look at will be the next Air Jordan to don the “Melo” logo. The Jordan 20 Flyknit in two new distinct colorways has surfaced, and both new colorways will be apart of the Melo line from Jordan. This updated version of the Jordan 20 mimics many aspects of the original only adding a high sock collar as well as the previosly mentioned flyknit to the sneaker. The new silhouette also ditches the laser etching on the strap replaced by a plain leather strap with a velcro numbered attatchment.
The first of the two colorways is the NYC edition, which features a predominantly black upper with gum accents only on the tongue and sole. Inside the sneaker on insole the Melo branding is featured as well as New York City in gold. The Second of the two colorways adds a bit more color to the mix as we get a predominantly olive upper with an orange sole and black accents throughout the sneaker. Both sneakers are slated to release this fall with still no word on retail price, but check back to One on One Testers and The Sneaker Bulletin for any updates, news and info.
