Earlier in January of 2019, One on One Testers first reported upon the Swoosh’s Hyperdunk line to be rebranded to the Nike Alpha Dunk line. Five months later the Nike Alpha Dunk has surfaced, and this is your first look.
In regards to the re-brand being true, Nike has yet to publicly speak on this recent leak, but these are still, nonetheless likely to replace the notorious team Hyperdunk series.
A lack of information has yet to been revealed regarding the actual function of the technology that arrives with the sneakers. The Alpha Dunk introduces new Air Knit technology, that is likely to be a more breathable, lightweight version of Nike’s flyknit. A foreseen Nike Zoom Air unit in the forefoot appears to make up the entirety of the base of the forefoot, and will likely be dubbed a new version of Zoom Air when the shoes officially surface. The cushioning foam looks to be a dual density set-up, while the Air Knit makes up the entirety of the forefoot, and a synthetic covers the high-top collar.
Coincidentally, the KD 12 introduced Zoom Strobel (a new version of Nike’s Zoom Air technology), while Jerry Lorenzo’s Air Fear of God’s additionally feature the same Zoom Strobel bag that Kevin Durant’s twelfth signature shoes do.
This is all big news as the Nike Hyperdunk line has been around for over a decade, and a brief re-brand of the signature line appears to be a positive for Nike’s end of the bargain. Additional information per a confirmed release date has yet to surface, thus keep it locked here for updates on these guys, and be sure to share your thoughts on these in the comments below.
