While Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the Milwuakee Bucks to the first seed in the tight Eastern Conference, it has also been confirmed he is the next Nike Basketball signature shoe athlete. The last athlete announced from Nike Basketball was Paul George, over two years ago.
Today, an image has surfaced of the Greek Freak’s first signature shoe, the Nike Zoom Freak 1, which many first speculated to be called the Nike Greek Freak 1. Residing from the original leak in August with just the sneaker’s lateral view, these new leaked images appear to give us a glimpse of the shoes sole, cushioning, and materials.
The Nike Zoom Freak 1 sports an overall emphatic design, displaying an indistinguishable aesthetic in comparison to current signature basketball shoes. The Zoom Freak 1 features a story-telling sole, likely paying homage to Giannis’ homeland of Greece. Signature Greek Freak branding is evident at the sole’s midfoot, with the “GA” logo.
They also ride atop a full-length foam midsole, with what has been confirmed to feature double stacked Nike Zoom Air bags in the heel. Additionally, the midsole acts as a platform to showcase the enlarged/reversed Nike swoosh logo. Material wise, we can expect to see synthetics, fuses, and mesh for the upper, as these are likely to be an affordable option for $110 and under.
It was confirmed in previous reports that Giannis Antetokounmpo’s first signature shoe would release during the current 2018-19 NBA Season, so stay tuned as official images and release dates come underway for the Nike Zoom Freak 1.
