Just today, Under Armour announced that Joel Embiid’s first signature shoe with the brand will be releasing in the Fall of 2020.The caveat of Embiid’s sneaker is that it won’t be just suited for the Center position, but is designed to cater to “positionless” basketball. Embiid himself has stated, “As a kid, I never dreamed of this moment”, after claiming it is the lightest shoe he’s ever played in. We now have your first look at the Under Armour Embiid 1.
The UA Embiid 1 appears to arrive sporting very similar aesthetics and tech specs to its other model counterparts. The upper arrives comprised of a foam backed mesh (a material very popular during the 2010s), as well as a fused synthetic rear for heel containment and support. In addition to the budget-friendly upper materials, there is an additional midfoot stabilizer piece, which appears to be borrowed from the recently released Spawn 2. The tooling features what appears to be a full length Micro G foam midsole carrier, encasing UA’s top-tier cushioning, HOVR foam. Completing the shoe is an anatomical-mapped outsole, as well as Joel Embiid branding at the tongue, and a UA logo at the heel.
Let us know what you think of the upcoming Under Armour Embiid 1 in the comments below. Don’t expect a release anytime in the near future, as Under Armour has stated that the shoes are slated to release in Fall of 2020. However, keep it locked here for further updates on The Process’ first signature shoe with UA.
