With the brand’s recent return to the basketball market for the first time in nearly a decade, Converse has revealed more new footwear, with their newly unveiled Star Series to push their return to the performance footwear market.
Tinker Hatfield has designed three silhouettes, based off the concept of Converse being born as a lifestyle brand. The Star Series will feature the BB for Basketball, RN for running, and UT for Utility/Casual wear. Only the BB and RN have surfaced per Converse, but the UT will surface eventually, and will release in late 2019, so stay tuned for more information on the UT.
As pictured below, the BB is the high-cut basketball silhouette, arriving in both both black and white colorways, with orange accents. Tech wise, a mesh upper with welded overlays makes up the tooling, while a build of a lightweight Cushlon midsole, and a Chuck Taylor inspired sole is evident. FInishing off the shoe is a stamped classic Converse logo.
In addition to the BB, the RN has also surfaced. It is the low-cut running shoe as picture below. They feature the same build of a cushlon platform, but with a running sole. Upper wise, they’re is also a welded mesh, with a standard lacing enclosure.
The Converse Star Series BB ($75) and RN ($90) will be arriving on the Nike SNKRS App and Converse SoHo (New York city) on Wednesday, May 22nd. The Utility’s will be arriving to retailers later this year. Be sure to share your thoughts on these down below, and keep it locked here for updates and full coverage on Converse’s newest kicks.
