Despite all the hype and anticipation surrounding the unveiling of Kyrie Irving’s 5th signature model, Nike Basketball and Uncle Drew have decided to flex on the industry once again with another colorway of the Nike Kyrie 4. The Kyrie 4 has been relentless with it’s neck breaking colorways and themes and is arguably one of the year’s most popular sneakers on and off the court.
Although this PE has a more subdued look, it may just be his most personal colorway yet. This version of the 4 pays homage to Kyrie’s parents, Drederick and Elizabeth and their alma mater Boston University. Kyrie’s late mother, Elizabeth, played volleyball for the school and his father, Drederick, was a star basketball player who is a member of the Boston University Hall of Fame. The number 11 displayed on the lateral side of the shoe is not only Kyrie’s number in Boston, but it was also his father’s number at the university which was eventually retired.
This PE sports Boston University’s colors of scarlet and white, a black swoosh, along with a clear outsole. The stitching on the number 11 on the lateral sides of the shoe resemble that of stitching used on a jersey. Within the number 11 of the left shoe it reads ‘1,931 pts’ in black which is the total amount of points scored by Drederick Irving during his collegiate career. On the right shoe, Kyrie pays homage to his mother and father by having their names ‘Drederick + Elizabeth’ placed within the number 11.
There’s no word yet on if this PE will be released to the public but check in with One on One Testers as always for the latest breaking news and for detailed performance analysis of the newest releases.
