After news broke this past week that Kawhi Leonard was splitting from Jordan, more exciting sneaker free agency news as New Balance looks to jump back into the Sneaker game and they are hoping to get Gordon Hayward on board as the brands new star.
According to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Hayward is receiving very strong interest from New Balance and with a brand new Boston Celtics practice facility located at the New Balance HQ in Boston, they may already have the upper hand in landing the Celtics star. Hayward is coming off one of the most gruesome injuries we have seen in basketball after emerging as a star with the Utah Jazz during the 2016-2017 season. In his debut game on Oct. 17, 2017 fractured his tibia and dislocated his ankle in his left leg. After undergoing surgery and sitting out all of the 2017-2018 season, Hayward has been seen back in the gym looking to be on track to make an impact immediately once the new season begins. And New Balance looks to have him locked up by then.
There is also chatter of New Balance considering adding players such as Kawhi Leonard and Joel Embiid, but want to focus on Hayward as the centerpiece moving the brand forward into basketball. This isn’t the first time New Balance has dipped there feet in the basketball game. Matt Bonner being the most recent star to don the NB. With multiple other stars becoming sneaker free agents this year most notably Demarcus Cousins, Andrew Wiggins and Isaiah Thomas, it looks to be an exciting year for sneakerheads.
