Earlier in the year, Paul George and Playstation collaborated on their first ever sneaker, the Nike PG 2 x PS4. This time around, the Oklahoma City Thunder Small Forward has more to bring to the table. Paul George’s love for video games was the main contributor to how this shoe came to be. Inspired by the color-blocking of the original Sony Playstation console, the Playstation x Nike PG 2.5 pays homage to one of the best video game consoles of all time.
“Before, I played video games just because it was fun,” George says. “Now I do it because that’s how I relax. I need an exit from reality sometimes, to get away, to be in a different place and different moment”, Paul George says.
Arriving in the subtle grey upper, with the controller button colors of green, blue, red, and yellow, you’ll immediate see instant variation to the original Sony Playstation console in the 90s. Another accent on the sneakers are the four shapes imprinted all along the sneakers, inspired by the active buttons of the original Playstation controller. The final, yet irreplaceable detail is the ‘Paul George’ text coming embossed on the heel of the sneakers.
Here’s an official look at the Playstation x Nike PG 2.5, and you can expect the sneakers to release in a very limited quantity. Arriving globally on Saturday, December 1st for a retail price of $110, you’ll be able to grab the exclusive kicks over on the Nike SNKRS App at 10 AM EST, or at select Nike Basketball retailers in a limited quantity. Will you be trying for a pair of PG’s and Playstation’s newest collaboration? Are these better then the initial Nike PG 2 ‘PS4’ release? Let us know in the comments.
