Leaks after leaks, Nike Basketball has officially debuted the Nike Kyrie 5, Kyrie Irving’s fifth signature basketball sneaker. One on One Testers formally gave the net a First Look at these quite a while ago. Finally, we have a look at these bad boys, and the cushioning looks to be a massive improvement from its predecessor.
Kyrie Irving says the Nike Kyrie 5 was inspired by his seventeen year old self, “How I would describe this shoe to my 17-year-old self is to sum it up in a single line, “look how far we’ve come.” It’s remarkable to see what can be created based upon having technology that is beneficial for the player”
The All Star guard’s fifth signature sneaker features an insane multi-directional pattern, and it looks better than all of its past models. Featuring Nike Air Zoom Turbo, an articulated forefoot zoom bag, this is a massive step up in cushioning, and the first Kyrie Irving shoe to feature forefoot zoom since the Kyrie 1.
“The Air Zoom Turbo unit curves to wrap the bottom and sides of the foot. “In the Kyrie 5, it is distributed across the entire forefoot footbed, working with his quick-change-of-direction style of play. When he’s banking, cutting, or attacking in drastic degrees, his foot will engage the Air Zoom Turbo unit providing responsiveness at all directions,” explains Nethongkome.”
Not only is this the first curved zoom unit in performance sneaker, this is a huge step up for Kyrie Irving’s line. Bang for your buck. Featuring a Venus Flytrap lacing system, its new fit and flywire lockdown cables look to provide insane lockdown and support.
Currently no information on the upper materials have been debuted quite yet, but it looks to be a basic mesh that should hopefully get the job done. That’s it for now. You can expect the Nike Kyrie 5 to release stateside on Thursday, November 22nd for $130.
