Man… Team USA has got me all sorts of hyped, not only are these amazing and talented players fun to watch, but their shoe game is always on point, the PE’s these guys have access to are insane. Let’s get into some of the kicks that were debuted during the Team USA practice.
Kevin Durant and the Nike KD 11
Kevin Durant debuted a clean KD 11 colorway during practice, the gold and blue colorway pays homage to the team he plays for, the Golden State Warriors. This has got to be the cleanest KD 11 PE we have seen so far, even the cage for the React is gold with black speckles. Durant definitely showed up during practice with these heaters.
John Wall and the adidas J.Wall 2
John Wall is wearing his own signature shoe with Adidas, the J Wall 2. This is an older model and I’m hoping Adidas has plans on giving John Wall another signature shoe in the near future. The man did sign a five year extension with the brand, so I am definitely looking forward on seeing a J Wall 3. This colorway of the J Wall 2 speaks for itself: Red, White, and Blue, that beautiful color combo that represents much more than Basketball.
Blake Griffin and the Jordan 32
Former member of Lob City, Blake Griffin debuts a clean colorway of the Jordan 32, the white knit upper also is embroidered with red and it looks super clean. The midsole is red in the front part and is black in the heel section, to cap things off is a translucent rubber outsole that is most likely going to work best in those clean court conditions Blake has access too. This PE is straight fire, I love all the red that this shoe has, especially on the upper. Blake might have just shown up to practice with the cleanest kicks on.
James Harden and the adidas Harden Vol. 3
We’ve been getting a plethora of leaked pics lately of Harden’s third shoe with Adidas, now the Beard debuts his third signature shoe at practice. The interesting thing is that these are not a PE and are most likely going to be among the first colorways of the Harden Vol. 3 to be released to the public. Regardless, these look clean on feet, but seem to be a step back in terms of design. Hopefully these can be beastly performers and will silence all the doubters. Do you guys think that these are a step back, in terms of design? Compared to the Vol. 2, these seem a lot more simple and sleeker as well.
Andre Drummond and the Jordan Jumpman Team Hustle
What we initially thought to be the Why Not? Zer0.2 is actually a Jordan team model that is set to release this October, around the same time that the Jordan 33 is set to release. These are pretty basic, the upper seems like a step back in terms of design and materials, come on Jordan Brand. Other than the upper, not much else is known regarding tech. I will say this though, these could probably be a beast performer on court and with other colorways I might even open up to them.
Russell Westbrook and the Why Not? Zer0.1
Couldn’t wait to get to the Brodie’s dope kicks, these are very similar to the Navy/Metallic colorway. The only twist with this PE is that the tongue and mesh under the shroud are a nice maroon colorway. Personally, I think this is dope, they didn’t change around a lot, but the simple change that was made makes this shoe standout. I love colors like red, maroon, and burgundy, so to see this color on one of my favorite performers had me hyped for this particular PE. Plus it’s the Brodie, how can anyone hate on the Brodie? This PE is sorta Red, White, and Blue; I’ll give Brodie the benefit of the doubt though, this colorway is too clean.
Kemba Walker and the Jordan Superfly MVP
The star point guard from the Hornets, Kemba walker rocks the upcoming Jordan Superfly MVP model. Not too much is known about tech on this model, but expect Kemba to hoop and break ankles in these.
Isaiah Thomas and the Nike Kobe AD Mid
After having trouble with his hip injury and bouncing around between teams, Isaiah Thomas has found a new team, the Denver Nuggets. Besides that, he’s at the team USA practice and of course he’s hoopin’ in the Black Mamba’s kicks’. Really liking the simple colorway Thomas is rocking and although it isn’t flashy like some of the other PEs, it’s still a dope shoe nonetheless. Good to see IT practicing with Team USA and having the opportunity to work with Gregg Popovich, one of the best coaches in the league.
