One of Derrick Rose’s most notable performance signature shoes is set to retro – the adidas adiZero Rose 1, the former MVP’s first signature shoe.

For those that don’t know what “adiZero” means in the shoe’s name, it was an was just a design approach that adidas used with several different shoes by starting out at no weight, and building up from there. It was essentially a fancy way of saying their shoes were lightweight, and use thinned out midsoles, reduced weight in the uppers, and redesigned outsoles featuring PureMotion. While it all may sound like a gimmick, the innovation actually worked.

The adidas adiZero Rose 1 was originally released featuring a PureMotion outsole with a Cilia nub traction pattern. The midsole was made up of a full-length adiPrene foam, with a Sprint Frame to decouple the sole for maximum flexibility and torsional rigidity. The upper used adidas’ GeoFit technology which is the independent ankle collar to reduce weight. The new Retro pair appears to use all of the same technology featured in the original, aside from the colorway. This new colorway arrives in a full pale Beige or light Grey colorway, featuring perforated synthetic suede uppers for ventilation. Completing the look are brief Red accents at the top eyelet and D Rose signature at the heel, and an embroidered Black/Red Rose pattern at the medial heel paneling.
