We all know and love Vince Carter for not only his legendary tenure in the NBA, but also for his never forgettable dunks in the 2000 NBA Dunk Contest, 2000 Olympic Dunk, and his iconic highlight reel we all cherish. Let’s take a closer look at the Nike Alphadunk ‘Dunk of Death’.
A nub traction pattern makes up the majority of the outsole, while a likely Phylon midsole encasing double stacked heel Zoom Air, and a full size forefoot Zoom Air bag completes the tooling of the shoes. Making up the upper is Nike’s new Air Knit technology, expected to be lighter and more breathable than their previous Flyknit innovation. An additional flywire cable lockdown system can be seen at the tongue. Completing the shoe is a large swoosh wrapping all the way from the lateral to medial sections of the shoe, while pull tabs at the heel allow for an easier entry into the shoes.
This colorway of the Nike Alphadunk pays homage to Vinsanity’s 2000 Olympic Games poster moment where he dunked over a seven foot, two inch french player, Frédéric Weis. Sported to match Team USA’s uniforms, this colorway arrives just in time for the FIBA World Cup this Summer.
The colorway arrives with an icy translucent outsole, red Zoom Air bag, silver/white midsole, navy blue upper, gray rear paneling, and a large embossed heel Nike swoosh to complete the shoe.
Look out for the Nike Alphadunk ‘Dunk of Death’ to arrive to retailers sometime this month, retailing for $170 MSRP. Let us know what you think in the comments below and keep it locked to this article as an official release date is revealed sooner rather than later.
